Another winter storm warning for P.E.I.

Environment Canada has issued the second winter storm warning in a week for P.E.I., and once again it is Prince County that is expected to get most of the snow.

The storm is forecast to start before dawn on Saturday and continue through the day.

CBC meteorologist Peter Coade is predicting 30 cm of snow for Prince County and 10 to 20 cm in other parts of the province. The precipitation will turn briefly to rain in Queens and Kings, dropping about 2 mm. Coade said while the west will see the most snow, it will be messier in the east.

“[It will] start out with some snow and some blowing snow, then that will be changing over to freezing rain and then to rain for the day, and then back to snow in the evening as the storm centre moves out and the wind goes around to the north and cools the temperature," he said.

"So a very messy day in the Charlottetown area all the way over to East Point.”

There has been a pattern this winter of Prince County getting more snow than other parts of the province. In the storm earlier this week 29.2 cm was recorded at Charlottetown Airport, while there was a report of 48 cm in Miminegash.
