11 killed as truck rams into stationary tractor-trolley

Eleven persons were killed and a dozen other critically injured when a speeding truck rammed into a stationary tractor-trolley on Jhansi-Kanpur Highway near Moth on Saturday night. Locals rushed the injured to nearby community health centre from where they were referred to Jhansi Medical College.

Eleven persons were killed and a dozen other critically injured when a speeding truck rammed into a stationary tractor-trolley on Jhansi-Kanpur Highway near Moth on Saturday night. Locals rushed the injured to nearby community health centre from where they were referred to Jhansi Medical College.
SSP, Jhansi, Kiran S said, “We are trying to trace the driver who is absconding. We have seized the truck and booked both the driver and the owner.”
According to reports, around 40 persons of Bujhond village had boarded two tractor-trolleys on Saturday night to visit Ratangarh ki Mata temple near Datiya in Madhya Pradesh.
After travelling a few kilometres on the highway, they stopped near a temple to offer prayers.
While a few got down, others remained in the tractor-trolley. Meanwhile, driver of a truck coming from behind lost control over the wheels and rammed the speeding truck into the stationary trolley which, due to impact, hit the other trolley. People sitting on the trolleys were thrown away a distance owing to the impact of the collision that killed seven on the spot, including three children, six women and two men. Even the village head was killed in the accident.
Owing to impact one of the trolley was completely destroyed. As people raised alarm and the injured cried in pain, locals rushed to the spot and somehow rescued them. They were rushed to a nearby community health centre from where they were referred to Jhansi Medical College.
As the medical college, doctors pronounced seven brought dead. Four others succumbed to their injuries during the course of treatment by Sunday morning. The condition of other injured was described to be serious by doctors. After being informed about the incident, SSP Jhansi Kiran S and SP, rural, Dinesh Singh along with other senior officials rushed to the medical college. They later inspected the site of accident.
