The Missing Peace, a Decatur autism support group, will host “Characters of Autism” at the Somerville Playhouse Sat., Jan. 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to join in the fun with their favorite characters: Chuck E. Cheese, Jerry and The Autism Frog, Elsa and Anna, Cinderella and Snow White. The cost is $4 per person and proceeds go to support and fund Missing Peace.

Feb. 5

The Hartselle High School will host a blood drive Thur., Feb. 5, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m in the auxiliary gym. Students can make an appointment to donate blood with a signed permission slip and photo ID. Permission slips can be picked up in Mrs. English or Mrs. Shelton’s rooms starting Feb. 2. Participants must be at least 16 years old and weigh 110 pounds. Parents and visitors are welcome to donate without an appointment.

The Miss Albany’s Piggy Tail Princess 7K & Red Carpet Event will be Sat., Feb. 28 at Priceville Elementary School for people with exceptionalities such as cerebral palsy and other motor function limitations. This second annual event is held in honor of 3-year-old Albany Reese Holmes who has cerebral palsy. The 7K will begin at 9 a.m. with a fun run/walk starting at approximately 10:15 a.m. The red carpet finish line event will be at 11:30 a.m. with a red carpet theme where anyone, especially those with exceptionalities, can cross the finish line with red carpet style. The Morgan County’s Sheriff’s Rodeo Queen Pageant will be March 14 at Nature’s Trail Church in Decatur. Contestants ages 3-26 will be divided into seven divisions and must be registered by 9 a.m. The interviews and written exams will start at 9:45 a.m., a luncheon will be held at noon and the Queen’s speeches, modeling and impromptu questions will begin at 1 p.m. The competition will relocate to the Morgan County Celebration Arena for horsemanship at 3:30 p.m. The rodeo queen competition precedes the Morgan County Sheriff’s Rodeo on April 10 and 11.

Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham.
