A man in his 20s is facing charges, after an alleged carjacking ended with the high-risk takedown in the city’s downtown Wednesday night.
EPS said at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, the suspect went into a parkade at 103 Avenue and 106 Street, and tried to steal a vehicle, threatening the driver – but that attempt was not successful.
A few minutes later, the suspect attempted to steal another vehicle by assaulting the driver.
EPS said the Canine Unit, Air 1 and the Tactical Unit was deployed to help handle the incident
Police were able to box-in the vehicle to stop the suspect – the suspect was taken into custody.
That played out around 11:30 p.m. near Jasper Avenue and 106 Street.
The carjacking victim suffered only minor injuries in the incident.
The suspect was later identified as Nathan Laboucan, 28, of Edmonton – he’s facing charges of attempted robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, robbery, criminal flight and dangerous driving.
