Wideband Phase Shifter Exhibits Flat Insertion Phase vs. Frequency

Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets has introduced a new SMT packaged MMIC Analog Phase Shifter which is ideal for phased array, industrial sensors and clock and local oscillator (LO) synchronization applications in fiber optic, military, test equipment and industrial/medical equipment.

The HMC934LP5E is a GaAs MMIC Phase Shifter which is controlled via an analog control voltage from 0 to +13V, and provides a continuously variable relative phase shift of up to 400 degrees from 1 to 2 GHz. The HMC934LP5E exhibits a low insertion loss of 3.5 dB and the insertion loss characteristic is extremely consistent versus phase shift setting and input frequency. The insertion phase of the HMC934LP5E is monotonic with respect to control voltage and offers a typical phase flatness of +3.5 / -2 degrees vs. input frequency.

The HMC934LP5E has excellent microphonics due to the monolithic design and provides a dynamically adjustable solution in advanced communications applications. The HMC934LP5E MMIC Analog Phase Shifter is ideal for synchronizing the phase of clocks in fiber optic systems and for adjusting the phase of the LO signal in microwave subsystems. The HMC934LP5E can also be used in test equipment applications, and in antenna beam-shaping, anti-jamming and signal cancellation circuits.

The HMC934LP5E is housed in a compact, RoHS compliant 5 x 5 mm QFN SMT plastic package. Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
