CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Two brothers were shot Tuesday afternoon seconds after they got out of a car with their shooter, according to witnesses.

The siblings, 20 and 21 years old, were shot about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday outside their apartment in the 8100 block of Aetna Road, according to a Cleveland police report.

Witnesses told police they saw the brothers, the brothers' cousin and a man known only as "Mo" get out of a tan car. Then they heard yelling and saw "Mo" open fire on the brothers, the report said.

The cousin ran up from behind and jumped on the shooter's back, and the shooter fled in the tan car, the report said.

The 20-year-old brother was listed in critical condition Tuesday and was unable to speak to police at MetroHealth Medical Center. The 21 year old, who was shot in the thigh, was able to describe "Mo" as a 21-year-old black man, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds.

Both were listed in fair condition Wednesday, a hospital spokesman said.

The man was rushed into surgery before police could further question him.

The cousin did not call 9-1-1 after the shooting and was not at the apartment, police noted in the report. When reached by telephone, the cousin hung up on detectives.

Police at the scene found no shell casings, and only a few drops of blood.
