EA Sports rights wrong committed at last week's Cowboys-Lions game

Last week in Dallas, not only did the Detroit Lions get screwed by bad officiating in the game, one of their young fans got screwed by bad officiating outside of the game. But there's a happy ending to at least part of this.

A 10-year-old named Roman was treated to the game with surprise tickets from his grandma. He happened to be a fan of the Lions, opposing the Dallas Cowboys that day, but that didn't really matter because generally speaking, civilized people aren't dicks to 10-year-old kids over something like the pro football team for whom they cheer.

At a pregame fan event outside the stadium, Roman won a game of musical chairs officiated, presumably, by someone attached to the Cowboys organization. The team's mascot was there, anyway. First prize was a copy of Madden NFL 15 on the PlayStation 4. When it was discovered Roman was wearing a Lions jersey, a do-over was ordered, and he promptly lost.

Deadspin, a blog about cooking and prison lifestyles, raised awareness of the injustice and EA Sports itself quickly stepped in. Via Twitter, the Madden maker says Roman will not only get a copy of Madden NFL 15, but also a PlayStation 4, and a Detroit Lions mini-helmet autographed by all-galaxy receiver Calvin Johnson.

The Lions, however, remain eliminated from the NFL playoffs, like all of the past 58 years.
