Vale, Anglo American and others sign responsible mining commitment

Brazil-based iron ore miner and producer Vale announced on Monday that is has signed an agreement along with 12 other mining companies to reinforce responsible, fair and competitive mining in Colombia's large-scale mining sector association SMGE. Besides Vale, the additional companies that signed are Anglo American, Colombia Exploration, AngloGold Ashanti, AUX Colombia, Cerrejón, Colombian Natural Resources, Drummond, Eco Oro Minerals, Gran Colombia Gold, Minas Paz del Río, Mineros, MPX Colombia and Prodeco.The agreement involves the continuing implementation of international best practices in industrial safety, occupational health, environmental management, community relations, human rights, ethics and transparency.
