With Halloween here you may be filling up on your fair share of pumpkin pies and candies. If that is the case then don’t worry as there seems to be a lot of fitness apps doing the rounds at the moment. These might at least help you to deal with those Halloween treats once November rolls around. Only yesterday we say the launch of the much hyped Google Fit app. In short Fit allows direct monitoring of all your daily activities and provided nifty little graphs and imagery to help you see what you are achieving…or not as the case maybe.

Well its been less than a day since Google Fit’s release and now it seems another big fitness tracking app has been updated to keep in line with Google. Runtastic Running & Fitness is quite a well known fitness tracking app and again provides all your typical tracking and data features but is especially great for mapping your routes using GPS as well as providing voice coaching services. Runtastic also seems rather quick at keeping up-to-date with Google as they were one of the launch apps when Android Wear hit the market. Now again Runtastic has been updated within hours to work in conjunction with Google Fit.

If you download the updated Runtastic app and have Google Fit installed you will be able to sync the two together as ‘partner apps’ allowing one to essentially feed the other information and data. This is particularly beneficial if when running you want to monitor your heart rate and other body sensor data through Runtastic. Once you download the Runtastic app and once opened you will immediately be greeted by a Google sign-in option. However, it is worth noting that this wont automatically sync the two apps. This sign-in is just your usual Google sign-up to validate who you are and allow you to share your data with Google+ and so on. To link your Runtastic app with Google Fit, you need to click on ‘Settings’ (via the triple dot menu in top right corner) and then scroll down to ‘Partner Accounts’. Once here (and providing you have the Google Fit app installed) then you will see Google Fit and literally just click ‘Connect’. From then on whenever you are out and running the two apps will work in conjunction and feed each other the necessary data. If you haven’t downloaded Runtastic yet then it is available via Play Store in both a paid and free version. The Pro (paid) version will set you back $4.99. If you’re not interested in spending your cash then don’t worry both the paid and free versions have received the Google Fit update.
