Pall Corp. (PLL), a filtration, separation and purification provider, Tuesday said second-quarter net earnings increased to $84.4 million or $0.78 per share, from last year's $83.7 million $0.75 per share.
Pro forma earnings per share were $0.88, up 7% from $0.82 a year earlier, including a headwind of approximately $0.11 from foreign currency translation. On average, eleven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.87 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales for the latest second quarter declined to $673.79 million from $676.97 million last year. Sales in local currency were up 6 percent, and increased about 2 percent excluding acquisitions. Analysts expected revenues of $700.65 million.
Further, the company is lowering its pro forma earnings per share for fiscal 2015 to a range of $3.65 to $3.85 from its prior range of $3.75 to $3.95 per share. Wall Street expects earnings of $3.86 per share for the year.
