Nordstrom Inc. on Wednesday released a few new details about the Nordstrom Rack slated to open next year at Hamilton Crossings shopping center.

According to a news release, the store will be 35,450 square feet and is scheduled to open in fall 2016.

"We're thrilled to be bringing Nordstrom Rack to the Lehigh Valley area," Nordstrom Rack President Geevy Thomas said. "We hope this new store will help us more conveniently serve customers who have been making the drive to Philadelphia and New York City to shop with us."

Nordstrom spokeswoman Naomi Tobis said the Hamilton Crossings store's planned square footage is comparable to that of other locations. On average, stores range from 32,000 to 35,000 square feet, she said.

The company typically hires between 50 and 60 people from the community to fill full- and part-time positions in sales, service experience and stocking, Tobis said. "We promote from within and will hire the store manager and department managers from other positions within the company," she said.

Tobis said anyone interested in applying for a position at the new store should visit careers.nordstrom.com.

Hamilton Crossings is a $140 million, 570,000-square-foot complex planned at Krocks Road between the Route 222 Bypass and Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township. The shopping center will be home to the region's first Costco and Whole Foods, among other stores.

The Nordstrom Rack in Lower Macungie will be the off-price retailer's fourth Pennsylvania location, the release says. Other stores are in King of Prussia, Willow Grove and Philadelphia.

Nordstrom Rack offers trendy apparel, accessories and shoes at 30-70 percent off regular prices, the release says. The stores carry merchandise from Nordstrom, Nordstrom.com and items purchased from many of the top brands sold at Nordstrom.

There are two full-line Nordstrom stores in Pennsylvania, as well, the release says.
