Kansas basketball commit Carlton Bragg selected to McDonald's All-American Boys Game to represent Villa Angela-St. Joseph (slideshow)

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Villa Angela-St. Joseph senior Carlton Bragg will be packing his bags for Chicago shortly after the high school season ends, as the Kansas commit learned Wednesday he is one of 24 players selected for the McDonald's All-American Game.

Check out a later news story Wednesday night that includes an interview with Bragg.

Bragg will be on the West roster when the game takes place April 1 at the United Center in Chicago at 9 p.m. Ohio was also represented by Franklin senior Luke Kennard (Duke commit), who will play for the East roster.

Bragg was not immediately available for comment on being selected.

He's not the first player from the school to earn the honor. Clark Kellogg earned a spot on the team in 1979, and Treg Lee was part of the roster in 1987.

Bragg is putting together quite the senior season for the Vikings. He's averaging 21.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game and has helped Villa Angela-St. Joseph reach No. 1 in Division III for the state AP poll and No. 12 in the national MaxPreps poll. As a sophomore, Bragg was part of the Villa Angela-St. Joseph team that won a state title.

The Vikings are a strong contender to win another state title this season, and if they do, the game will take place the Saturday before the McDonald's All-American game.

Shaker Heights forward Esa Ahmad, St. Edward forward Kipper Nichols and Kent Roosevelt guard Phillip Grant were nominated but were not selected for the event.

The two local girls nominees, Chagrin Falls' Hallie Thome and Shaw's Fredniqua Walker, did not make the final cut.
