"In a changing healthcare environment, Kindred is committed to investing in technology platforms that support our mission of delivering hope, healing and recovery to our patients," said Scott Blanchette, CIO, Kindred Healthcare. "Having real-time, comprehensive patient information across the continuum of care will better enable Kindred to improve clinical outcomes and reduce costs, and will be an invaluable resource for our hospital, physician and managed care partnerships."

SAP BW powered by SAP HANA provides an analytics platform where patient information is immediately available from supporting clinical, billing and financial systems. Improved and faster accessibility of patient information across the care continuum is a critical element in Kindred's patient-centered care management approach, particularly in its Integrated Care Markets where sharing information acoss several sites of care drives better quality patient care.

"Better understanding of our patients will best position us to meet their current and future care needs," added Blanchette, who is driving analytic initiatives within the organization. This upgrade supports the evolving healthcare reimbursement landscape through faster data modeling capabilities and also opens the door for predictive, advanced and self-service analytics.

Employees who use the updated system will benefit from an enhanced user experience including the introduction of more self-service capabilities. Better still, the entire SAP BW application will be accessible from mobile platforms, allowing key employees to make faster critical business decisions while in the field.

"SAP is transforming how healthcare companies contextualize information and share data to improve patients' care experiences," said Dr. David Delaney, chief medical officer, Americas, SAP SE. "Kindred's implementation of SAP Business Warehouse on SAP HANA provides an unrivaled analytics foundation for the company to continue innovating in post-acute care."

Kindred Healthcare launched SAP BW powered by SAP HANA on November 20, 2014.
