Argument with boyfriend leads to accidental injuries: Richmond Heights Police Blotter

RICHMOND HEIGHTS

Criminal damage, Loganberry Drive:

Officers responded to an apartment building lobby April 18 for a report of a girl who had cut herself on glass. It was learned the girl, 14, was mad about a conversation she had with her boyfriend and kicked the lobby window, out of frustration. The window shattered and she fell through it. The girl's mother said she would pay for the damage.

Petty theft, Richmond Road:

Two women were arrested for theft at J.C. Penney April 20 after they were suspected of taking two pairs of jeans from a shelf and then returning them for store credit. A bag they were carrying contained five pairs of underwear, valued at $35, and an additional pair of underwear was learned to have been concealed in one of the women's bras. All the items were from the store. Both women were told they were banned from J.C. Penney for one year and the Cleveland woman, 23, was also charged with theft by deception for falsely returning the jeans. The Woodmere woman, 20, was also charged with possession of criminal tools.

Theft by deception, Richmond Road:

A woman said April 18 she was taking her kids for a walk around 1 p.m. when she saw two males steal a cell phone from another male and run away. The suspects were said to have left in a vehicle and were not located by responding officers. A check of its registration showed it was owned by a Warrensville Heights resident.

Suspicious vehicle, Richmond Park Drive East:

Around 2 a.m. April 17 an officer was patrolling an apartment complex and noticed a man sitting in a parked vehicle. The driver said he had been visiting a friend but didn't think it was safe for him to drive home. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana and asked the man what was in a Crown Royal bag that was seen under the driver's feet. He told him it contained marijuana and the Mayfield Heights man, 30, was subsequently arrested for drug possession. The total weight of the marijuana was 8.4 grams.

Criminal trespassing, Richmond Park Drive East:

An apartment security officers reported at 11:30 p.m. April 16 a vacant apartment unit had a broken deadbolt lock and someone was inside the unit using a cell phone. Responding officers located a man, 43, in the building. He said he lived down the hall with his girlfriend and was in an argument with her and needed a quiet place to make a phone call so he entered the apartment because he saw the broken lock. His story was confirmed by his girlfriend, but the man was told apartment management might choose to press charges against him for criminal trespassing.

Theft from auto, multiple locations:

Two vehicles were reported April 17 and 18 to have been entered at separate residences on Meadowlane Drive. The owner of one vehicle said four pairs of sunglasses, a CD holder and 8-10 CDs were stolen. The owner of the other said loose change and her house keys were stolen from her vehicle. Also April 17, a resident reported her son's car was entered while it was parked in the driveway and an iPod and a work-issued iPhone were stolen. In all cases, the victims believed their vehicles were left unlocked.
