Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with Rainbow Play Systems, have announced a multi-year strategic partnership that will greatly expand and re-name the KidZone area at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, with multiple added attractions to enhance the young fan's experience at Cougars games beginning this season. Today's announcement of the KidZone, sponsored by Rainbow Play Systems, builds upon the Cougars' Capital Improvement Project that was revealed last fall in advance of the organization's 25th anniversary season in 2015. Those projects include a new state-of-the-art videoboard, permanent music pavilion for concerts and special events, "Strike Zone" premium seating, and an indoor batting facility. Fan anticipation continues to grow for the Cougars' 25th anniversary season with Opening Night set for Thursday, April 9.

Added to the KidZone area in 2015 will be the following new attractions:

Slide - a large inflatable slide gives Cougars fans a thrill when descending to the bottom.

Skeeball - an arcade favorite features side-by-side skeeball attractions for two fans to enjoy simultaneously.

Basketball - fans can test their basketball shooting accuracy or compete against a friend.

Soccer Kick - fans can show off their foot skills and show their World Cup moxie.

Bounce House - "Jump Around" will be a new theme at the ballpark with an expanded inflatable bounce house.

Swingset - a newly constructed Rainbow Play Systems swingset will be an enclosed play area for children age 6 and under to enjoy.

Another addition to the KidZone area will be a new ticket booth for fans to purchase both single-turn tickets and unlimited use daily passes. The ticket booth will also feature a "Snack Shack" with a variety of food and beverages for young and adult fans to enjoy. Additional upgrades to KidZone include a re-paving of the surface area with new picnic benches for families.

Existing attractions at KidZone that will return in 2015 include a T-Ball game, obstacle course, and the popular Speed Pitch booth, which records the speed of fans' fastballs and awards nightly prizes for the fastest pitches thrown within various age groups.

"KidZone is a unique playground area inside the ballpark that has always been such a popular spot for our young fans and their families to visit while at a Cougars game," Cougars owner Cheryl Froehlich said. "Today's announcement of our partnership with Rainbow Play Systems and KidZone expansion ensures that fans will enjoy an unmatched experience in terms of new, fun and interactive elements that further enhances the fan experience."

"Rainbow Play Systems of Illinois is proud to partner with the Kane County Cougars in the expansion of the KidZone. We are excited to provide the KidZone with a play structure for climbing and sliding, designed to help burn off a little energy and add even more fun to the Cougars experience," Rainbow Play Systems of Illinois General Manager Joanie Barrus said. "Baseball, families and Rainbow Play Systems should make for a winning team!"
