Seagate exec to speak at Startup Grind

A key strategist for Seagate Technology will be the key speaker Friday at Startup Grind’s monthly speaker series

The May 15 event will rund from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Scotts Valley Library 251, Kings Village Road.

The speaker, Tara Long, is vice president of strategy and corporate development at Seagate Technology, a maker of data storage solutions.

Long works on Seagate’s corporate strategy, mergers and acquisition activities, equity investments, licensing and strategic partnerships. She has over 20 years of experience researching, financing and advising technology companies. Prior to Seagate in 2006, Long was a managing director at MCG Capital Corporation, where she performed competitive and industry analysis to define business opportunities.

She was also a managing director with C.E. Unterberg Towbin, where she performed due diligence and made recommendations on investments, as well as advised on mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments.

Long holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Marquette University.
