Tuesday across Ontario and B.C., Starbucks will be thinking pink — and revealing all the new foods Starbucks aficionados will be waking up to when they line up for their double latte or triple grande.

Starbucks has revamped the menu and will be introducing a new line of delicious, authentic and wholesome goodies created by La Boulange — the iconic San Francisco pastry shop founded by renowned chef, baker and cookbook author, Pascal Rigo. With this expansion, Starbucks is welcoming wholesome, real food that not only tastes great, but is made with ingredients you can recognize.

You’ll notice the delicious treats right away as the foods will be served warmed and presented in delicate, pink wrapping as an ode to the food’s French origins.

Company officials say the changes in the food lineup came about when research showed only one in three customers purchase food at Starbucks — so the company was looking to change that number with the introduction of a line of foods that come with quite a culinary heritage.

“I’m incredibly excited about this initiative,” said the San Francisco-based Rigo during a recent interview. “We’re not taking away products the customers are enjoying now, but rather enhancing the lineup, and working with a selection of foods that are reflective of their Canadian roots — and celebrating local flavours.” The foods include sandwiches and pastries, all bearing La Boulange stamp of approval. Rigo says the company is “revamping the entire line, and there will be more specific items - more French croissants! - for consumers to enjoy.”

La Boulange products will be available in Quebec and Atlantic markets at the end of March and in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in June. La Boulange will also roll out in Ottawa at the same time as the Quebec and Atlantic markets.

Interesting to note, the busiest Starbucks in North America is actually located at First Canadian Place, in Toronto. which means thousands of Torontonians will be in for a surprise when they lineup for their favourite beverage Tuesday morning.
