From July 9 to 18, the Indian Summer Festival happens at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre (183 Roundhouse Mews), the Orpheum Theatre (601 Smithe), the Vancouver Playhouse (600 Hamilton), SFU's Woodward's Cultural Programs at Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 W. This year, the fifth annual event features a mix of creative dialogue, public-art exhibitions, literary presentations, and music events.

Highlights include an opening gala with chef Vikram Vij, a concert by maestro Amjad Ali Khan and his sons, business advice from Kiva cofounder Jessica Jackley, a collaboration between geneticist Harold Varmus and a New York jazz quintet, a discussion of religion and violence with Reza Aslan, a talk with Canadian literary stars, and a discussion with four cab drivers.

Tickets for the Indian Summer Festival are available online in advance.
