Although we don't believe in timing the market or panicking over market movements, we do like to keep an eye on big changes -- just in case they're material to our investing thesis.

What: Shares of Houston American Energy (AMEX: HUSA) jumped 12% briefly at the market's open this morning.

So what: Someone got an itchy finger this morning and sent shares soaring at the open. It looks like just a single trade accounted for the bounce, and shares have since settled back down, up 1.4% as of this writing.

Now what: The company had its shareholder meeting yesterday but hasn't released any news today. No reason to make a panic move today unless you were lucky enough to be the seller at the open. Sometimes strange trades happen, especially on low-volume days like today.
