With the assistance from SDO/BDO Saikul, villagers have taken up the encouraging task of revamping a road section between Molkon and Yangnoi/Lhungtin road under Saikul Sub-Division in Senapati district.
The 7-km stretch is a part of the 90-km long Saikul-Phaibung road which falls under construction and maintenance responsibility of the State PWD.
A team comprising of Saikul SDO T Manihar, his staff, Kuki Inpi Manipur Saikul Block President Thangkam Lupheng, T Gamnom village chief Yamthong Touthang and a group of villagers inspected the revamped portion of the road today.
T Manihar said that he came to know about the dilapidated condition of the road section during an official visit to the area in May-June this year.
He said that the condition of the road portion was so bad that even Shaktiman trucks were found stuck in the middle of the road.
After he received complaints from the villagers, the SDO sent earth excavators and dumper trucks to restore traffic.

Stating that there are around 20 villages along the road, Thangkam Lupheng said that the road also connects Saikul with Sanakeithel and Kachai villages of Ukhrul district.
