Microsoft to help develop digital village

The government is committed to maximising advanced technology to resolve problems in critical sectors including uplifting of the poor in tribal areas of Maleghat. Microsoft has agreed to develop a smart Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), like a smart city, in Maharashtra. They urged the state government to find a suitable location to take the project forward.

It was also decided at the meeting that a Cyber Security Centre will be set up in Pune. Fadnavis visited the Microsoft Cyber Crime Centre at Seattle.

The chief minister who holds the home portfolio believes, “Cyber crime is a new challenge and cannot be tackled with old and traditional mindset and methods.”

Fadnavis held meetings with Boeing CEO Raymond Conner and conveyed that “Maharashtra is determined to create and expand its aviation infrastructure.”

Expansion of operations at Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul (MRO) plant at Mihan in Nagpur was discussed. The project envisaged in 2005-06 has been unable to keep pace as per plan. The CM also met Joe Minarik, General Manager Strategic of AWSCloud Amazon Web Service to discuss cloud computing services in Maharashtra.

AWS showed keen interest in dialogue for evaluating sites for India AWS Region and new investments. The state government assured all help to AWS Cloud if it decides to begin operations in Maharashtra.
