Play at Copper’s Woodward Barn; see the lights at Estes

Ice skating•What better way to usher in the holiday season than taking the family ice skating? The NoCo Ice Center in Windsor has open skate sessions this holiday weekend. Drop in for skating 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $5 for those ages 4 to 64 and $4 for 65 and older and 3 and younger. Cost for skate rentals is $5. Copper Woodward ReMix•Young snowboarders and skiers can go play on trampolines, ramps and foam pits, for free, Saturday at Copper Mountain’s Woodward Barn. The Barn is a massive indoor facility used for practicing jumps on skis, snowboards, bikes and skateboards. Using “Parkboards” and “Parkskis” riders bomb the ramps on skis and snowboards equipped with wheels. On Saturday, the Barn is free to play, with 30-minute sessions available from 2 to 8 p.m. Watch pros shred the ramps and rails from 2 to 5 p.m. and stick around until 8 p.m. for the free showing of Absinthe Film’s newest snowboarding movie, “Heavy Mental.” Information: www.coppercolorado.com.

Glow Christmas Parade and Celebration•Say goodbye to Thanksgiving and hello to Christmas Friday at the downtown Estes Park parade celebration. Floats twinkle with thousands of sparkling lights, marching bands show off their stuff and Santa shows up with his helpers at this family-friendly affair.
