A 63-year-old Biggar man has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention in relation to a fatal crash earlier this year.

Ed Cumpstone admitted he was driving a school bus that hit a truck and trailer stopped along a highway north of Biggar, Sask. Feb. 3. The crash resulted in the death of 40-year-old Monica Domes, who had two children on the bus at the time of the collision.

Domes and a male occupant of the truck had called for help after experiencing mechanical issues. The two had parked the truck, which was pulling the trailer, at the side of the highway.

Domes was standing outside the truck when the bus came up from behind and collided with the vehicles, striking her in the process. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital a short time later.

Cumpstone entered the plea in Biggar provincial court Wednesday. He was fined $500.
