  • Two long-term Richmond physicians will reunite in a new practice in the former Ruby Tuesday restaurant.
  • Physicians Janet Meckley and Tina Reichley will work in the new State Line Family Practice office.
  • The office should open in June when renovations are complete.
  • They will welcome patients of Jeung Ahn, M.D., who plans to retire from his New Paris, Ohio, practice this summer.

Two physicians who were in the same practice when they began working in Richmond are reuniting to treat patients in the former Ruby Tuesday restaurant building on the city's east side.

The primary care office of physicians Janet Meckley, M.D., and Tina Reichley, M.D., will be called State Line Family Medicine. It will be part of Reid Physician Associates, a group of physician practices that are part of Reid Hospital.

Renovations to the new location, at 534 W. Eaton Pike, began in November and should be complete in June.

The property is one of three on West Eaton Pike that Reid Hospital purchased last fall for development. The property purchase and renovation is one of several Reid Hospital projects implemented to provide more move-in ready space for doctors, which is an important part of physician recruiting, said Larry Price, community relations director for Reid. The medical office building that is attached to the hospital is at capacity, Price said.

Meckley and Reichley both began their careers at Richmond Family Care Center at 795 Sim Hodgin Pkwy. Meckley joined the staff in 1993 after completing her family medicine residency at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Dayton, and Reichley joined the practice in 1996 after completing her residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital-Ohio Health in Columbus.

Meckley left the practice six years ago to become a hospitalist at Reid.

"As a hospitalist, I was able to work one week on and one week off, and that gave me more time to spend with my husband and my sons, who were both in high school at the time," Meckley said in a press release.

Last fall, while taking a review course to prepare for her board certification renewal exam, Meckley said she began to consider a possible return to primary care.

"I missed getting to know patients and really helping them manage their health," Meckley said. "Two weeks later, Tina (Reichley) called and proposed the idea of setting up an office with the two of us. I gave it a lot of thought, and decided that the time was right — my oldest son is already out on his own, and my youngest is heading to college in the fall."

Reichley said she is looking forward to working with Meckley again.

"We will share a call schedule to provide coverage for inpatients — that's how I've always done it, and it works well for me," Reichley said in a press release. "We expect to be busy right away, in part because I will be bringing my patients with me from Richmond Family Care Center."

The upcoming retirement of another Reid family physician might have an impact on patient volume at the new practice.

Jeung Ahn, M.D., plans to retire from his New Paris, Ohio, practice this summer and is referring his patients to State Line Family Medicine.

"As I prepare to retire after 36 years, it is gratifying to know my patients will have options for their care with State Line Family Medicine," Ahn said in a press release. "Drs. Meckley and Reichley are great doctors, and I know if my patients go to them, they will be in good hands."

Reid President and CEO Craig Kinyon said in a press release that Ahn "has steadfastly served his patients with clinical expertise, kindness and compassion for many years.

"While we are acknowledging his many contributions during his exemplary career, we will welcome Dr. Meckley back to her family practice role as she reunites with Dr. Reichley," Kinyon said. "We are very happy for them both as they maintain their legacy of service and compassion to their patients and prepare a new home to continue service to Dr. Ahn's patients in their new location."

Although Reichley is leaving the Richmond Family Care Center, Lloyd Javier, M.D., and Phil Scott, D.O., will continue practice there.
