The same day NBC cut ties with Donald Trump for making derogatory comments about Mexican immigrants, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz revealed Monday on “The Ed Show” that nearly half his audience actually agreed with the Republican presidential candidate.

The “Big Pulse Poll” asked viewers if they thought that “Trump’s statements on illegal immigrants are accurate,” to which 40-percent answered “Yes,” a shockingly high number considering MSNBC’s audience. (MSNBC Guest: Trump’s Comments Prove Latinos Get Less Respect Than Women)

In case you forgot, Trump stated that, “Mexico is not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with them. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” (RELATED: Judge SMACKS DOWN Ed Schultz, ‘You’re No Star In This Courtroom’)

Since declaring his candidacy for president, Trump has been gaining momentum in the polls. He currently sits in second place — 5 points behind Jeb Bush — in a New Hampshire Republican primary poll.
