Amplats, Sasol handed emissions exemption

[miningmx.com] – MINING companies including Anglo American Platinum have been granted a temporary, five-year extemption from complying with new minimum emission standards, said BDLive.

The publication said environmental minister, Edna Molewa, had provided exemptions to PPC, Sasol and Eskom which spares the power utility from some R70bn in capital expenditure it would have had to spend to comply with the emission standards.

The companies applied for exemptions in terms of the National Environmental Management Air Quality Act, said BDLive.
