The Firm is representing hundreds of vaginal mesh lawsuit plaintiffs who have filed similar cases against Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon, Inc. unit and Boston Scientific Corp.

New York, New York (PRWEB) February 25, 2015

Plaintiffs who have filed transvaginal mesh lawsuits (http://www.vaginalmeshlawsuit2015.com/) against Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon, Inc. unit and Boston Scientific Corp. in a mass tort proceeding underway in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas have asked the Court to allow their claims to remain in Pennsylvania, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to a Brief filed on February 11th, the companies have been seeking to have scores of cases filed by out-state plaintiffs dismissed from the proceeding. (In Re: Pelvic Mesh Litigation, Case ID No. 140200829)

"Both companies contend that the vaginal mesh lawsuits should be dismissed from the Pennsylvania proceeding because the plaintiffs have no connection to the state. But in their February 11th brief, plaintiffs argue that both Johnson & Johnson and Boston Scientific have voluntarily registered to do business in Pennsylvania, and as such their transvaginal mesh lawsuits should be subjected to jurisdiction in Pennsylvania courts," says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free legal reviews to women who were allegedly harmed by pelvic mesh products used in the surgical repair of pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.

Transvaginal Mesh Litigations
Bernstein Liebhard LLP is currently representing hundreds of clients in similar transvaginal mesh lawsuits currently pending in state and federal courts. This includes numerous cases filed against Ethicon and Boston Scientific that are now pending in federal multidistrict litigations underway in U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia. Grand, a partner with the Firm, is currently serving on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committees in both those proceedings.( In Re: Boston Scientific Corp., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2326; In re: Ethicon, Inc. Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2327)

Mr. Grand is also serving as Co-Liaison Counsel in a multicounty litigation established for Ethicon mesh lawsuits in New Jersey Superior Court. In addition, he was a member of the plaintiff's trial team for the state's first Ethicon trial, which ended in March 2013 with an $11 million verdict for a woman who experienced vaginal mesh complications related to the Gynecare Prolift device. (In re: Pelvic Mesh/Gynecare Litigation, No. 6341-10)

According to court documents, the transvaginal mesh lawsuits pending against Boston Scientific and Ethicon are among more than 70,000 that have been filed in U.S. courts on behalf of women who allegedly suffered serious complications due to devices used in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. Mr. Grand is also serving on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committees in the remaining litigations underway in the Southern District of West Virginia: In Re: American Medical Systems, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2325; In Re: Coloplast Corp. Pelvic Support Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2387; In Re: Cook Medical, Inc., Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2440; and In Re: Neomedic Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2511.
