Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar on Friday said that the Infosys Foundation had come forward to construct toilets at government pre-university colleges, wherever necessary.

Speaking with medipersons after interacting with Congress workers at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office, he said Sudha Murty of Infosys Foundation had also assured him to take the responsibility of constructing toilets and provide drinking water facility at government primary schools, in any of the three backward districts in the State.
Financial assistance

The minister said that he along with senior Congress MLA Ramesh Kumar, had recently met Sudha Murty. The Foundation had agreed to extend financial assistance to upgrade facilities at government schools and colleges in Srinivaspur Assembly constituency represented by Ramesh Kumar, the minister said.

Colleges sans facilities

The then government in 2007 granted permission to open a large number of pre-university colleges, without taking any measures to provide basic facilities like toilets and drinking water. Students of many of these colleges used the toilets meant for the primary and high school students, Ratnakar said.

Several companies like Jindal, Toyota and Prestige group had also offered to provide facilities at government schools and colleges, he said.

On errors in question papers of Pre-University examinations, the minister said that the errors had been found in English and Mathematics papers. Directions have been issued to fix responsibility for the errors, he added.
