India’s 4G smartphone market has welcomed the Sony Xperia E4g Dual which has quietly slipped into the company’s product listings for a price of Rs 13290. The phone has some pretty decent features for the amount it costs, though we don’t know if anyone could call it the best deal in the market right now.
The handset is not vastly different from the Sony Xperia E4 Dual that was seen hitting shelves across India last month. It has two SIM card slots, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage which is expandable up to 32GB. Instead of a 5-inch screen, the new phone has a 4.7-inch display of the same 960 x 540p resolution.
As its name suggests, the Xperia E4g Dual panders to the slowly growing 4G devices market in India. It will be facing competition from others like the 2015 Motorola Moto E 4G LTE, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, Lenovo A6000/A7000 and Xolo LT2000, to name a few. The processor powering it is a 1.5GHz quad core MediaTek MT6732 chip.

Quite disappointingly, Sony has decided to stick the Xperia E4g Dual with Android KitKat v4.4.4 rather than Lollipop. The front camera of 2MP resolution is accompanied by a 5MP one on the back. You get an LED flash unit, HDR, geo-tagging, image stabilization and auto scene recognition as part of the package.
The 2300mAh battery hiding under the hood, will apparently let you squeeze out a little over 13 hours of talk time on GSM networks. In terms of appearance, this new Xperia smartphone looks old-fashioned and pretty boring. Sony should go back to the drawing board if it wants to make a lasting impression.
