More than 600 gifted students participated in Academic Games at the Mylan Park Community Center the past two days.

Students from fourteen different Monongalia County schools competed against each other in the county tournaments.

The students complete mathematics, linguistics and presidential trivia games.

“Along with general skills that you have in the classroom, the strategy level is much higher and you’re just applying those grammar skills and mathematical skills. With the Mr. Presidents, they’re also learning good study habits,” said Robin Marcus, Cheat Lake Elementary gifted teacher.

Five elementary schools and nine middle schools participated.
