Letters: Health coverage, Trailer Terrace ‘slum’

Keep it local

As a senior citizen, I was blindsided in January by my loss of Humana coverage. After Jan. 1, 2015, my Humana coverage was dropped because of county location, and my deductible immediately went to $1,000. One drug co-pay was a monthly co-pay of $1,319 — after finding out I could purchase it locally at Clinic Pharmacy for a little over $400!

Complaining to the state insurance commissioner was to no avail, and I, along with 52 other seniors, have only the sympathy of Lincare of Great Falls, which waived the $1,000 deductible, so we could still afford our medications. Shopping locally does pay off and has some sympathetic employees who are looking out for us seniors. Thanks to those guys and gals.

Messy trailer park

Welcome to the slums of Great Falls.

Trailer Terrace was purchased approximately five months ago by a co-op of homeowners with the assistance of NeighborWorks. Since then it has become a shambles. There is nobody to manage the park and nobody to enforce the park rules. As such, many people are doing what they want, how they want, and it really shows.

There is trash everywhere, vehicles — running and not — everywhere, livestock and many more dogs than allowed, and the roads are so bad they are almost impassable. So much for having a nice place to live.

Since the purchase by the co-op, things are 10 times worse than they have ever been. It’s just a slum.
