Which GPU should I buy? GTX-980, GTX-970, GTX-780Ti or R9 290/290X

Hi! I have a problem with my PC build. My current part lists are: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/VeNu1999/saved/8WZXsY

And: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/VeNu1999/saved/3N26Mp

First, I thought I was going to buy the R9 290 Vapor-X, but then Nvidia releasedthe 970 & 980 and I now have the same problem that everybody else does ;) I will have to decide between multiple, almost equal cards ( well, at least some of them are pretty equal).

Which one should I buy? The R9 290, 290X, 780Ti, 970 or 980? My budget is about 1000-1200 dollars, and the 780Ti is still rly expensive with the brand new 980. If I will have to go with either of them I will have to wait until some price drops. I need help with this situation guys, I really do. Im a bad decider and thinking this drives me crazy. Help me, please!

I will play mostly Minecraft, Battlefield 4, Batman: Arkham Origins and maybe some Titanfall. Minecraft and BF4 are the most important to me, I want Minecrsft to run at 100 fps+ with EVERYTHING maxed out and BF4 to run ultra at 60 fps.

Thank you!

Solution
970 for value for your dollar... 980 for extreme performance regardless of cost. I wouldn't bother with the 780 ti at this point as teh 970 gets pretty close to it's performance and is vastly cheaper.

Thanks for the answers guys it means a lot :) I am happy to see that there isn't any arguing between AMD and Nvidia fans (yet). Ye, I read some reviews and saw some benchmarks and the 970 seems to be a hell of a beast for its price. Is it true that it beats 290X? Cuz if thats true, my decisions are over. I will buy it. What brand would the best one to buy? I was considering Gigabyte bcs I like the looks of it and the price isn't too high like on some Asus' ROG models.

Thanks! ^^

Thank u guys! That helped me a lot! I was thinking of getting the Gigabyte GTX-970 WindForce G1 Gaming card bcs it overclocks like a freaking beast (some1 got it to over 1500Mhz) it stays at 60-65 or 70 degrees celsius under full load and looks amazing. It also has a blue WindForce logo on it (I am building a rig that has black and blue in it ;) )

Somebody told me that 290 is more futureproof than 970, is it true?

Thank you

More future proof? I'd like to hear their reasoning, because I think it's just a load of BS. How is something that's older and slower more future proof?

Say you bought gtx usually twice as expensive than amd r9 which would deliver MORE performance than amd not TWICE the performance.
No amd wouldn't last forever but neither does gtx.
so the money you saved today you could buy another card in the future which i am pretty sure would be better than gtx 980 (maybe im exaggerating a bit)
And seriously minecraft
lol

this is not true the 970 is about as good as a 780 depending on the game, and a 980 barley beats the 780TI in most real world test the 780TI beats the 980 by 1-2 fps
if you can find a 780ti on fire sale then buy it some are going for $450

another big issue people are talking about is how much less power the 980 and the 970 use don't worry about that because it will only save you about $10 a year

update- i bought a 780 ti for $400 absolutely worth it

If you still want to play games in Windows Xp like Crysis, Witcher Enhanced,
Oblivion, Gothic 2,3....Fallout 3,etc.. get the GTX-780Ti

GTX-980, GTX-970 ==> DOES NOT support Windows XP... Be careful....

I just noticed, QEMM has trouble with the amount of memory it has, and Windows 3.11 for workgroups doesn't even have a driver for it!

For gaming, the 980 seems like a waste of money... The 970 looks like it will handle anything thrown at it for $230 less.

LMAO hard at this
