FGB, one of the leading banks in the UAE, received the title for “Best Startup Procurement Function Middle East 2015” at the Chartered Institute for Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Middle East awards ceremony, which was recently held at Intercontinental Abu Dhabi.

A CIPS award is the most prestigious recognition in the procurement and supply chain profession. The awards are judged by a panel of industry experts and senior procurement professionals from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Judges based their assessment on the success of a procurement and supply chain management function that was established after January 2013. The function should have demonstrated effective management and innovation, thereby raising the profile of the profession.

FGB scooped up the award after being shortlisted for best start up function in the Middle East, alongside Atkins and The Dow Chemical Company. FGB was granted the award for its procurement department that was set up in 2013. The project’s focus was on people development and driving innovation using progressive, technological procurement tools.

CIPS is an international UK based governing body that promotes excellence in procurement and supply chain management. It operates in 150 countries and has 200,000 professionals in its global network.
