Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) Broke Out To A New High On Q2 Results

Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) reported second quarter adjusted EPS of $0.66 Thursday morning, up from $0.15 in the previous year. Analysts expected EPS of $0.52. Third quarter adjusted EPS is expected to be about $2.20. The company also increased its full year adjusted EPS guidance to between $3.40 and $3.50, from prior expectations of $3.25 to $3.45. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $2.11 and $3.40.

Royal Caribbean Cruises gapped open sharply higher Thursday, but traded in a range throughout the session. Shares finished with a gain of 4.33 at $60.56, with volume at a 6-month high. The stock broke out of nearly a 2-month range and set a new high for the year.
