Watertown Savings announces customer choice awards

Watertown Savings Bank CEO Ron Dean announces that the bank will distribute $75,000 in customer choice awards in 2015. The program, in its 19th year, has distributed more than $800,000 to more than 100 local nonprofit organizations.

Anyone with a Watertown Savings Bank account can vote. Every customer gets one vote. WSB customers vote for their favorite local, nonprofit organization. Every qualified nonprofit that earns at least 1 percent of the total votes received is awarded funds. Funds are distributed according to the voting results. To qualify, the organization must serve the local community in some way and have 501c(3) status. Religious and political organizations are ineligible. Charitable organizations within a church community are eligible.

The deadline to vote is Wednesday, Dec. 31. Those without access to a computer can pick up paper ballots at any WSB branch location. This year’s top vote getter will receive $5,000. Funds will be distributed at an awards ceremony in March. For more information, call 617-928-2336.
