Defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. (NOC) Tuesday said it received a contract from the U.S. military worth $116 million to upgrade AN/AAQ-28(V) LITENING Advanced Targeting Systems.
Northrop Grumman will provide upgrades and spares to the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard and Marine Corps. This award will bring all Air Force Block 1 pods to the G4 configuration, completing the service's transition to the latest version of the LITENING system.
The AN/AAQ-28(V) LITENING pod is a self-contained, multisensor system that enables pilots to detect, acquire, auto-track and identify targets for highly accurate delivery of both conventional and precision-guided weapons.
