Five serious accidents in Elkhart county.

The five crashes are still all under investigation. 

First responders in Elkhart County have had their hands full.

Captain Mike Culp said, "This time last year we had three traffic fatalities, this year we are quite a bit above that."

Since Friday, four fatal traffic accidents have happened in Elkhart county.

Tuesday morning, a serious accident on county road seventeen where a vehicle veered off the road, crashing head on into another vehicle.

The driver of that crossover was air lifted to the hospital for serious head injuries.

With Memorial weekend coming up, cops are reminding drivers they will be out in full force.

"We are currently in operation pull over which is the click it or ticket part of safe family travel for Memorial weekend so you will see increased patrols."
