USM students getting head start on job hunt at Spring Career Fair
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of Southern Miss students Tuesday met dozens of potential employers at an annual event designed to help them move from the classroom to the boardroom. The Spring Career Fair at the Cochran Center gave students a chance to speak face to face with 91 vendors, representing the public and private sector, as well as the military.
Businesses and industries from six states were represented.
"It's great to be able to talk to (company representatives), see what they're looking for, the locations they have and how you'd be a great fit for their company," said Ashley Grillot, a senior marketing major.
"It gets you to build relationships with the companies and to give you a chance to get yourself out there, make yourself known," said Quinton Cross, a freshman broadcast journalism major.
"I feel like every student needs to come out here because you have your pick of where you want to go and you have the people to meet right here," said Carla Brinkley, a recruiter for Sherwin-Williams.
The event was open to all students and alumni.
