MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police have arrested a man in Massachusetts accused of breaking into a New Hampshire home and trying to leave with a 2-year-old child.

Police said a man reported three men entered his Manchester home Wednesday and held him at knifepoint while removing items.

The man said he was able break free, and they began to run away. However, he said the suspects grabbed the 2-year-old and attempted to put the child in a car. The father fought with one of the suspects and was able to take back the child.

Police said the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Willy Valentin of Nashua, was arrested Thursday in North Andover, Massachusetts, and is awaiting extradition. He's been charged with robbery and kidnapping; it wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
