Women's Energy Network – North Texas Chapter Hosts Fifth Annual Leadership Conference in Dallas

The Women's Energy Network (WEN) – North Texas Chapter will host the organization's Fifth Annual Leadership Conference, "Empower, Enable, Enhance," on Thursday, June 4th. The half-day event will be held at the Dallas Petroleum Club, 2200 Ross Avenue, 39th floor. Conference registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a lunch and the afternoon program. A networking reception will immediately follow the conference at 5:00 p.m.

The 2015 conference will feature five seasoned industry leaders who will make individual presentations, including:

Keynote Speaker Janet F. Clark, retired, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Marathon Oil Corporation
"Five Things that Matter – Learning from a Career on Wall Street and in Oil & Gas"

Janet F. Clark retired as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Marathon Oil Corporation October 1, 2013. She joined Marathon in January 2004 after having previously served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for Nuevo Energy from 2001 through 2003. Before joining Nuevo, Ms. Clark worked at Santa Fe Snyder where she assumed the role of executive vice president of Corporate Development and Administration in 1999. Ms. Clark joined Santa Fe in 1997 as chief financial officer. She began her career as an investment banker specializing in corporate finance, primarily with The First Boston Corporation, now owned by Credit Suisse.

Ms. Clark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, cum laude from Harvard University and an MBA, with Distinction, in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Clark serves on the Board of Directors of EOG Resources, Inc. including as Chair of the Audit Committee. From 2011-2013 she served on the Board of Dell, Inc. where she served on the Special Committee for the "Going Private" transaction. Prior to that, she served on the board of Exterran and its predecessor, Universal Compression from 2003-2011. She is a board member of the following nonprofit organizations: The Houston Symphony, YES Prep Public Schools, Teach for America - Houston Regional, Greater Houston Community Foundation, and Jones Graduate School of Management (Rice University) Council of Overseers. She also is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' Business and Community Advisory Council.

Keynote Speaker Melinda Yee, Partner Deloitte & Touche LLP
"M&A Activity and Trends"

Melinda Yee is a Partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP ("Deloitte"), where she specializes in assisting her clients with financial and tax due diligence on transactions in the energy space. She has worked with companies across the energy spectrum, including gas gathering and processing, interstate and intrastate pipelines, refining, exploration and production, mining, merchant power generation, alternative energy, trading, and regulated utilities. Ms. Yee is Deloitte's M&A Women's Initiative Leader for Mid-America and a member of the organizing committee for Deloitte's annual Women Leaders in Energy event. She is also a founding member of United Way's Women of Tocqueville Society in Metropolitan Dallas.

Elizabeth Lions, Elizabeth Lions Consulting
"Good Girls Ask – The Power of Negotiating"

Elizabeth Lions is the Author of two books, "Recession Proof Yourself" and "I Quit! Working for You Isn't Working For Me." Ms. Lions is currently crafting her third book on leadership. Elizabeth's coaching practice is broken into two key areas: career management and leadership.

Ms. Lions has been quoted in CBS Money Watch, Yahoo, The Ladders, and Dice job boards. She has also been published in the Philadelphia Tribune, PBS, CBS Money Watch, Dale Carnegie and John Tesh's blog. In 2013, her radio show for women entitled, "Leadership Lessons from the Lioness," was created through Plaid For Women, along with her articles. As a strategic communication consultant, she prepares global business leaders for high-profile public engagements including media interviews, town-hall meetings and cross-generational initiatives.

Ms. Hughes is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Journalism with a concentration in Government.
