The American Lung Association has partnered with Pfizer to launch a mobile application to help smokers face obstacles associated with quitting, according to a press release.

Smokers who use the app, Quitter’s Circle, can create a personalized quit plan, receive support from friends and family and speak with a health care provider about quitting, according to the release.

“Quitting smoking is the single most important step a smoker can take, but quitting can be lonely and hard work without support,” Harold P. Wimmer, president and CEO of the American Lung Association, said in the release.

The app allows users to set up video consultations with a doctor or find one in the user’s local area.

Users can also connect with friends, family and support circles using the app as well as through Facebook, Twitter and a website.

Supporters can use the app to help those looking to quit with the cost of quitting including doctor visits as well as medication used in the process.

“By downloading the Quitter’s Circle app, smokers looking to quit can join a community who want to help, and invite friends and family to be part of their quit team, so they can follow their journey and provide ‘quitspiration’ to keep them going,” Wimmer said in the release.
