Los Angeles Dodgers games will soon be broadcast in Southern California by Charter Communications via the Dodgers TV channel, SportsNet LA.
“Charter plans to launch the Dodger’s network to its customers in the coming weeks,” Charter said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Los Angeles Times first reported the news.
“We are going to get the Dodgers on,” Charter Communications chief executive Tom Rutledge told the Times. “We want the Dodgers on every outlet and we are committed to making that happen,” Rutledge said.
The move will end an impasse that has lasted a year and prevented thousands of fans from watching the games.
On Tuesday, Charter agreed to acquire Time Warner Cable in a deal valued at $78.7 billion. Up until this point, Charter has been among several pay TV companies that have not carried SportsNet LA, which the Dodgers launched last year.
Charter has just under 300,000 subscribers in Southern California. The new development does not guarantee SportsNet LA will be carried on Dish Network, Verizon, DirecTV, AT&T U-Verse or Cox Communications.
THR is owned by Guggenheim Media, a sister company of Guggenheim Baseball Management, which owns the Dodgers.
