Sony Xperia Z4 release date: Out on Verizon this Summer

Sony Xperia Z4 UltraSony

After being announced earlier this year and recently being made available in Japan, the Sony Xperia Z4 is headed to US soil this coming Summer.

The announcement was made by Verizon which revealed that the said device, to be known as the Sony Xperia Z4v, will start becoming available this Summer. The "v" in the model was reportedly meant to stand for Verizon hinting that the device will only be available exclusively from the carrier.

For those of you who may have come across the Xperia Z4, you may have noticed that there have been minimal changes if you compare it to the Xperia Z3. But the US variant, Z4v reportedly carries much more than what the Z4 has to offer.

Among the featured specs of the Sony Xperia Z4v include 5.2-inch (2560x1440 resolution) display, a Qualcomm 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7 MP main camera (with support for 4K video) and a 5MP front-facing shooter.

The Xperia Z4v will offer users 32GB of internal storage but is expandable via microSD of up to 128 GB. It will bank on a 3000 mAh battery, Qi and PowerMat wireless charging support. The Z4v will also offer a slightly different form factor and may be slightly heavier at 160 grams. The Xperia Z4 weighs about 144 grams.

The Sony Xperia Z4v will be available from Verizon in two colors (black and white). The phone is reportedly dust and water-resistant and is something gamers can use to stream PS4 games.

An issue that potential buyers may want to look out for is the celebrated overheating issues associated with the Snapdragon 810 processor.

In Japan, NTT Docomo had already issued a warning for such and also issued guidelines to deal with the thermal issues. Sony is currently working on a fix for the said problem but has yet to officially release it.

There is no word yet on the official price that the Xperia Z4v would carry though there are speculations that its price range could play somewhere in the $859 mark.
