24th Annual Eagle National Bank 5K Walk/Run to Fight Cancer is September 26 at Delaware County Memorial Hospital

June 29, 2015 (Drexel Hill, Pa.) – Eagle National Bank and Delaware County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) are partners for the 24th straight year as they make plans to host their highly successful 5K Walk/Run to Fight Cancer. This year’s event is Saturday, September 26 and it will once again benefit the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center. Registration is from 8:30-9:45 a.m. at DCMH (501 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill), and the run starts at 10 a.m. and the walk starts at 10:01 a.m., rain or shine.

Over the 24-year relationship fighting cancer together, Eagle National Bank and DCMH have raised over $550,000 dollars through this event that annually has as much spirit and excitement as any local fundraising Walk/Run.

In addition to the Walk/Run, the community is invited to attend the health and wellness fair from 9 a.m. to noon on September 26 at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. The health fair includes fun activities for the entire family, including: free health screenings, free health information, free children’s activities, flu shots, walk-in mammograms (bring your insurance information, call (610) 284-8158 if you are uninsured), refreshments and giveaways while supplies last. Marie DeStefano, senior administrative director of Oncology, Crozer-Keystone, comments, “Our Delaware County Regional Cancer Center is so appreciative of Eagle National Bank and all of the individuals, teams and families that choose to support our fun event. We look forward to another great experience this September.”

Registration fees are $25 for adults and $15 for children under-15 for all registrations received by September 15. Fees increase to $30 for adults and $20 for children under-15 for registrations received September 16-26, as well as onsite at the event. Only registrations received by Sept. 15 are guaranteed to receive an Eagle National Bank Walk/Run T-shirt and all participants are eligible for door prizes. Teams of 5 or more will receive a free team photo for each member.

The first place male and female runners aged 16 and over will each receive a $100 American Express Gift Cheque, a plaque and an Eagle National Bank Walk/Run sweatshirt. The first place male and female runners aged 15 and under will each receive a $50 American Express Gift Cheque, a plaque and an Eagle National Bank Walk/Run sweatshirt. Medals will be awarded to the top three runners, both male and female, and in age classifications (15-under, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+). Please note that the course will remain the same as the updated route first used in 2014, and runners will be reminded to pick up a copy of the course map at registration.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center, an accredited comprehensive cancer center and member of the Fox Chase Crozer-Keystone Cancer Partnership, located at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
