Mineral production during September 2014 announced

PUNE: The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for the month of September (new Series 2004-05=100) 2014 at 116.0, was 0.7% higher as compared to September 2013. The cumulative growth for the period April-September 2014-15 over the corresponding period of previous year stands at (+)2.1 per cent.
The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic and minor minerals) in the country during September 2014 was Rs 17221 crore.The contribution of — coal was the highest at Rs 5643 crore (33 per cent). Next in the order of importance were — petroleum (crude) Rs 5535 crore, iron ore Rs 2299 crore, natural gas (utilized) Rs 2182 crore, lignite Rs 354 crore and limestone Rs 410 crore. These six minerals together contributed about 95 per cent of the total value of mineral production in September 2014.
Production level of important minerals in September 2014 were — coal 440 lakh tonnes, lignite 29 lakh tonnes, natural gas (utilized) 2638 million cubic metre, petroleum (crude) 30 lakh tonnes, bauxite 1032 thousand tonnes, chromite 80 thousand tonnes, copper concentrate 10 thousand tonnes, gold 108kg, iron ore 95 lakh tonnes, lead concentrate 15 thousand tonnes, manganese ore 158 thousand tonnes, zinc concentrate 131 thousand tonnes, apatite & phosphorite 40 thousand tonnes, dolomite 520 thousand tonnes, limestone 231 lakh tonnes, magnesite 28 thousand tonnes and diamond 2469 carat.
