London gang stealing for jihad gave Emwazi his thirst for blood

Mohammed Emwazi developed his lust for violence through his links to a gang of Islamist fanatics who used knives and stun guns to rob residents of London’s most exclusive areas. Their haul was used to pay for jihadists to travel abroad.

The gang included a fellow former pupil at Quintin Kynaston community academy in northwest London, who was later killed while fighting alongside Islamist groups in Syria.

The Department for Education announced yesterday that it is reviewing how the school dealt with the radicalisation of its pupils.

Past students recalled Emwazi as a bullied loner who drank alcohol, used drugs and lusted after other students, while a former Islamic State fighter said that he was being used.
