Free income tax preparation assistance is again available for low to moderate income and senior citizen taxpayers.

Completed federal and state returns will be filed electronically at one of three sites and participants may also file for rent and real estate tax refunds.

The three sites and their schedules are as follows: The Government Center in New York Mills, noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 3 at 118 N Main Ave.; Calvary Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays starting Feb. 4 in Perham, 619 3rd Ave. SW; Wadena Senior Center in Wadena from noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays starting Feb. 5, 220 Jefferson St. S.

This free electronic filing of tax returns, called Tax Aide, is offered at over 4,600 sites nationwide. The project is sponsored by AARP, the IRS, Bank of the West, the Minnesota Department of Revenue, and the Cultural Center in New York Mills.

Call 218-385-3339 with any questions about this program. Taxpayers needing assistance should bring all tax information to the site: W-2s, 1099s, interest statements, income statements, rent statements, last year's tax return if possible. Appointments are not needed. All work is done on a "walk-in" basis.
