Stonegate Mortgage Co. today announced plans to expand its corporate headquarters and create up to 400 new jobs by 2017.

The company will invest $6.2 million to lease, renovate and equip 21,000 square feet of office space in Carmel's North Haven office park, according to a news release. The office park is just north of Stonegate's 81,515-square-foot Indianapolis-based headquarters at The Precedent office park, which the company will maintain.

The announcement is an expansion of previous plans. In December, Stonegate said it planned to hire 300 new workers. On Friday, company officials added 100 jobs, meaning they could hire 400 new workers by 2017.

Stonegate employs more than 1,100 associates, including more than 400 in Indiana.

"When we founded the company in 2005, our focus was on creating a profitable and sustainable business," said Jim Cutillo, founder and chief executive officer of Stonegate Mortgage, in a prepared statement.

Gov. Mike Pence joined company officials today for the official announcement. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is offering up to $4,825,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $161,250 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans.

"After launching in Indiana and growing into a national company, Stonegate knows firsthand the benefits of doing business in a state that works," Pence said in a prepared statement.
