Sealed Air Corporation is moving its global headquarters from Elmwood Park to North Carolina, it announced Wednesday, shifting as many as 1,300 jobs from six facilities to Charlotte.The Fortune 500 company, maker of Bubble Wrap and other packaging, said in a news release that it will relocate the jobs from Elmwood Park, Saddle Brook and sites in Connecticut, Wisconsin and South Carolina within three years.

About 200 of the jobs would come from the New Jersey facilities.

The new North Carolina campus will serve as the headquarters for its divisions, research & development and corporate offices, Sealed Air said.

The company did say it would maintain manufacturing in its Saddle Brook facility, as well as ones in South Carolina. The company said about 100 jobs would remain in Saddle Brook.

“We are confident Charlotte will provide a great environment for us to operate and grow our business moving forward,” Jerome A. Peribere, president and CEO of Sealed Air, said in the release. “This move will contribute to a stronger, one-company culture that will enable greater collaboration, efficiencies, and better use of our investments in people and new technologies.”

According to the Associated Press, North Carolina’s committee that approves tax breaks to attract business OK’d up to $36 million over 12 years for Sealed Air if it meets job and investment goals. It will also receive as much as $5 million more from state and local government incentives, the AP reported.
