pandoraFans of an artist, group, or band usually follow these musicians on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. However it seems that if you’re a Pandora user, the company is launching a new feature later this week that will allow artists to directly message their fans. Dubbed Artist Audio Messaging, it lets an artist send personalized messages to their fans on the Pandora platform.

According to Pandora, the number of artists who are participating in the new feature will be very limited at the start, presumably just so that Pandora will be able to fine tune the service before they make it available to more artists. One of the artists involved is Lenny Kravitz, so if you’re a fan of him you should be able to look forward to personalized audio messages from the musician.

No word on how long Pandora will take to scale up the service, so we guess we will just have to wait and see. Pandora’s Artist Audio Messaging is sort of a follow up to the company’s AMP platform that they released last year which allowed musicians to track their music and to see how fans were engaging with their work.

So with Artist Audio Messaging, Pandora will be allowing musicians to directly engage with their fans as well. The feature can be disabled so if you’d rather not be bombarded by all the artists you’re listening to or follow, you can do so.
